I met Wingo at the SandraCameron Dance Center in the early 90s. We were in a Hustle performance class where he selected the song and then took over for the teacher when the teacher dropped out. Years later I met him on Long Island where he was an Instructor. I enjoyed his classes and his sense humor. He will be missed.
So saddened by Wingo's passing. He was a wonderful dancer, a terrific instructor and a good friend. He was so generous with his time, his teaching and his friendship. Although we knew each other for many years, we became good friends over the last few years and we had many wonderful conversations, lots of laughs and great dances. The dance community lost one of its bright stars and he will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathy and condolences to his family. Dance on Wingo - Marion Panos
Wingo was not only a colleague for several years but a dear friend. Whether it was offering business advice or a shoulder to lean on Wingo was caring, gentle, compassionate, kind, and always there. He will live on in our hearts forever. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends xo
I met Wingo at a Stardust Dance function a few years ago teaching his favorite dance, West Coast Swing. (I think it was his favorite dance.) Of course, nobody can learn a new dance in one workshop, but his passion was so strong I took more lessons.
Eventually, he started a monthly dance in Port Washington. Everybody smiled. His music selections were very good with a good rotation of dances.
"The Dance Calendar" magazine editor gave me the news while we exchanged emails about my column. I was just shocked, like I was punched in the stomach.
We have lost a pillar in the dance community.
My condolences to his family and his students.
RIP Wingo.
Met Wingo and Lillian through a mutual friend many years ago in the 1980's. We attended Lillian and Wingo's wedding as it was such a happy, memorable event. Kept in contact with Wingo though the dance events. My thoughts turn to his family and their sadness at this time. Please accept my condolences on your loss. Rest in Peace, Wingo!
