Thomas J. Sheridan

1953 - 2022

OBITUARY

On May 4, 2022, Thomas “ Tommy” Sheridan of Floral Park, NY passed away at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer, he was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy.

He was born to Tom and Gloria Sheridan on March 14, 1953. As a child, Tommy would often fill his home with laughter as he was constantly telling jokes and making everyone smile. He was an excellent student, achieving perfect scores in every subject area. Tommy also ran track and won many awards and trophies at Archbishop Molloy High School. During his college years at St. John’s University, he attended many basketball games watching his favorite team the Redmen play in several NCAA tournament games.

Tom was also an avid music fan. Between the Beatles and the Pure Prairie League he could name every song. From going to countless concerts, Tommy served as the band historian and cover designer for the Pure Prairie League. He was honored to introduce the band at several concerts throughout his lifetime.

After graduating from St. John’s University, Tommy worked as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service. He enjoyed telling stories about famous people who were charged with tax evasion. In later years Tommy worked for Mobil Oil Corporation. Over the years, Tommy made many long-lasting friends that he still kept in touch with throughout his life.

Tommy met the love of his life, Diane, shortly after the passing of his beloved mother. Little did they know that this sad moment would lead to a lifetime of love together. They were truly each other’s best friend. Tommy and Diane, enjoyed their life together with their children, Jose (Candice) Barrera, Pamela (Steve) Griffin, Theresa (Matthew) Cotignola. His children truly loved and adored him.

The best was yet to come, Tom and Diane were blessed with their beautiful grandchildren; Katherine(22), Emilia(13), Matthew(11) and Michael(6). Tom’s grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed their adventures together to the fullest. Each of the grandchildren share so many of the same character traits as their amazing grandfather.

His passion for family, music, art, sports and humor is a legacy that will be carried on throughout his children and grandchildren. From the countless times he spent helping them with homework or going on fun filled vacations, he made every single grandchild feel special.

Words cannot express the loss that we feel, but we take great comfort knowing his body is fully healed and restored as he is in heaven with his beloved parents and dear sister, Kathy.
