OBITUARY

Rosemary Hogan, of Port Washington, New York, and Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026.

Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Hogan, her childhood sweetheart. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, love, and service to others.

She is lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: Grace and John Simpson, Colleen and Michael Hunt, and Michele and Michael Hogan. Rosemary was a devoted grandmother to Bobby, Brendan, Liam, Sean, Niamh, and Lindsay, and was overjoyed to become the great-grandmother of little Rosemary, who carried on her cherished name.

Rosemary graduated from Holy Cross Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school in Manhattan. After dedicating herself to raising her family, she pursued her lifelong passion of helping others by returning to school and graduating at the top of her class from the Queensborough Community College School of Nursing, an accomplishment that reflected her determination, intelligence, and unwavering work ethic.

For more than 30 years, Rosemary served as an emergency room nurse at Jamaica Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital. She devoted her career to caring in these underserved communities, earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of countless patients through her compassion, skill, and dedication.

Her commitment to caring for others extended far beyond her professional life. Rosemary generously volunteered her nursing skills on numerous medical missions to underserved regions of the world where access to health care was limited. Working alongside teams of physicians and fellow nurses, she provided medical screenings, health evaluations, patient counseling, and health education - bringing comfort, hope, and quality medical care to communities in need.

Family was the center of Rosemary’s life. She loved reading and instilled that same love of books in her children and grandchildren. She and Bob shared a passion for travel, exploring destinations throughout the United States and around the world. They also cherished countless days boating on Manhasset Bay, Rosemary’s favorite place to be, where many of the family’s happiest memories were made.

Rosemary will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, and quiet devotion to her family, her patients, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of compassion, service, and love will continue to live on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.
