OBITUARY
Robert W. Simons, beloved husband, brother, father, father-in-law, and grandfather passed away on May 11, 2026, just shy of his 80th birthday.
Born and raised in Queens, NY by his parents, Fred and Mary, along with his brothers Joseph and Richard (twin) and sister Mary, he attended Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School followed by earning his bachelor’s degree from Queens College. Robert was then drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his country admirably while stationed in Germany for two years, and was honorably discharged. In 1971, he married Patricia, his wife of 55 years, and settled down to start a family, eventually welcoming their children Karl and Kristen.
Robert worked for the New York State Department of Health, retiring in the early 2000s, and was an active member in the American Legion. In his retirement, he kept busy volunteering for F.I.S.H. where he served as the president for many years, while also delivering meals to needy families and providing transportation to others in need. Robert loved his scotch and cigar on a Saturday afternoon while sitting on his patio listening to music or Yankees games, and was an avid reader of history. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was birthdays or holidays with his wife, brother, children, and grandchildren, or coffee hour at church where he could tell everyone his new favorite joke.
In the end, Robert fought hard and his final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
