1960 - 2022

OBITUARY

With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you of the death of Robert Vincent Regan. Born on July 13th, 1960, entered into heaven on August 25th, 2022, surrounded by his family. Rob was a stagehand in the IATSE Local 1 union member for 33 years. He travelled the world with the New York Philharmonic, before working tirelessly and passionately at Lincoln Center. He was a 3nd generation IATSE Local 1 member, and provided the opportunity to his son James to become the 4th generation.

Rob was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend AnnMarie in 1987 in New Hyde Park, NY, where they later raised their three children. He raised them with patience, discipline, and humility, teaching each of them how to live life to the fullest, just as he did. His life’s purpose was providing his family with happiness, which he did at home, in Montauk, in Ireland and beyond. He was a friend to all of those he met; and once you were a friend, you were Rob’s friend for life. Second to caring for his family and many friends, was tending to his garden. He not only filled his home with happiness, but with homegrown tomatoes, herbs, and flowers, among other rotating favorites. His green thumb was just one of his many talents.

He is survived by his wife, AnnMarie; his sons, James and William; his daughter, Kathryn; his mother, Dorothy; and his sisters, Kathy and Maureen. He is preceded in death by his father, Peter.

To the Regan family - I am indeed very saddened to learn of Rob's passing, and having just recently heard about it, I am only now putting my thoughts here. I met Rob around '95 at ABC Studios, and later worked with him frequently at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher/David Geffen Hall. All of my experiences with him were great. We connected frequently on the phone and had really interesting conversations. He was always glad to see or hear from me, and he had a way of making each greeting feel a little like a long lost friend suddenly rediscovered. He was dependable, friendly, funny, thoughtful, and candid, and I will really, really miss him. I am so sorry for your…

Dear Regan family, I am very sorry and saddened by the passing of Robert. The stage crew and librarians riff off of each other to ensure smooth stage sets during NYP concerts. His legacy for me not only encompasses those concert logistics however; he also showed me that I had been peeling a banana the wrong way for most of my life. Thanks for setting me straight on that and RIP, my friend. Sandy Pearson

Dear Aunt Dot, Anne Marie and Family, Kathleen and Maureen, Your loss is deep, but your love is deeper and Roberts reflected that in life. Even when we were little kids playing at either the Regan House in Long Island or Dobbs Ferry, Robert was always fun and made you feel immediately welcomed. Now, our Loving Father has welcomed Robert home. May the peace of Robert's eternal reward sustain you in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

To the Regan family, I worked with Rob at the New York Philharmonic. I am stunned that he is gone! He was so kind, supportive, professional, friendly and funny. What a joy to come to work and be greeted by his smile! We musicians were in good hands. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be remembered with great affection and respect. Sincerely, Sherry Sylar
