OBITUARY
Richie was born in NYC in 1971 to Hilaria Santos and AnÃbal Acosta. He grew up in Corona, Queens and was the middle of 3 Siblings. He is lovingly remembered
and survived by his wife for 27 years, Eilat, and their three children: Hazel, Heather, and Harrison.
Growing up, Richie’s adventurous curiosity led him to different life threatening accidental traumatic events through his childhood, one of which led to loosing both
kidneys at the young age of 14. He had a kidney transplant donated by his mother. Since then, Richie’s life had a meaningful journey in every decision he made. 20 yrs later a 2nd kidney transplant was necessary and after having a perfect match by 3 family
members, his maternal uncle, Andres, donated the 2nd transplant.
Richie met his wife, Eilat, through his neighbors, her cousins, at a young age and after a few years of friendship they started dating and got married with God’s blessing in 1998. Richard was a dedicated, hardworking family man, a protective loving father, a caring
loving husband who always put his family first and loved spending quality time around family and friends. He was loved for his funny, respectful and charismatic
personality. He was a peacemaker, often appreciated by strangers for his humility and generous spirit. In 2023 he was faced with yet another significant health challenge, which gradually affected his quality of life. Richard was diagnosed with lung cancer, followed by esophageal cancer just a year later. He was a true fighter at heart and was determined to be an exception to survive the illness. God chose him and called him to
his side this past Saturday 10/11/25, to give him rest.
Richard fought hard until his last breath. He was an angel in disguise sent by God to positively influence numerous people, leaving a lasting legacy through his
kindness to his family as well as close friends and those he briefly encountered. Rest in eternal peace, Richard Acosta, you will always and forever be remembered with love and respect.
