OBITUARY

Patrick Walsh passed peacefully in his home on July 13, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.


Born on July 18, 1939 on a dairy farm in Greenhill, Co. Cork, Ireland, Pat was the seventh of Mollie and Michael Walsh’s eight children. After immigrating to New York in 1960, Pat secured a job as a porter in an apartment building.  He married his devoted wife, Una Walsh, in 1965.  Together they raised four children- Ann Marie, Michael (Richenda), Lisa and Patrick, Jr. and was a proud grandfather of eight, namely Nolan Redmond, Aidan and Liam Pereira, Rachel, Thomas and Nicole Walsh, and Keira and Shane Murphy.  Pat eventually began investing in and managing real estate in Queens, NY.  The family moved from Manhattan to New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York in 1979.


Pat will be forever remembered as a man who loved his family, a hard day’s work, country and Irish music, a good night’s craic and Co. Cork’s national hurling team.

Pre-deceased include parents Mollie and Michael, sisters Kitty Kilroy, Ellie May Walsh, brothers Tommy and Patrick, brothers-in-law Tony Walsh, Johnny Maloney, Bill Russell, Tom Kilroyand Dennis O’Shea; sisters in law Mary Murray, Phyllis Walsh and Theresa Walsh and nephew Kevin Russell.


He is survived by his loving wife, Una, four children, eight grandchildren, sisters Philomena O’Shea and Maureen Russell, brother Michael, sister in law Marion Maloney, brother in law Fred Walsh, and many beloved nieces, nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews.


Visiting services will be on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 3-9 pm at New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park; followed by a Funeral Mass on Friday, July 18, 2025at Notre Dame Church, 25 Mayfair Rd, New Hyde Park at 10:45am.
