OBITUARY

Patricia Machi, 62, originally from Bayside, New York, and later a resident of Melville, New York, passed away after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Throughout her illness, she faced each day with strength, grace, and an unwavering faith.

Patricia, lovingly known as Tricia, was a beautiful soul with a kind and loving heart who touched and changed many lives. She had a deep love for Disney, her family and friends, the beach, and live concerts—simple joys that reflected her warmth, enthusiasm, and appreciation for life.

Tricia dedicated more than 40 years of her life as a childcare technician at St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital in Bayside. She cared for very sick and terminally ill children with extraordinary compassion and devotion. Her kindness extended far beyond her professional duties; she often welcomed children into her home during the holidays so they would not have to face those special days alone, offering them comfort, love, and a sense of family.

She was one of four children born to Joseph and Helen Slovensky. Tricia was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Joseph Slovensky; her brother-in-law, Gerard Crepeau; and her nephew, Matthew Slovensky.

She is survived by her husband, Sal Machi; her sister, Maureen Slovensky; and her brothers, Mark and Jim Slovensky. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Iris and Sue Slovensky; her nieces, Lauren and Megan Slovensky; and her nephews, Patrick, Stephen, and Kevin Slovensky, all of whom will cherish her memory and carry her love with them always.

Tricia will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and selfless care.

My deepest condolences to the Slovensky family on the loss of their sister Trica. My condolences to her husband. It's hard to say goodbye to those we love but comforting to know that they are not really gone but will be there in spirit. We remember this when we feel a warm breeze, see a butterfly and hear the birds sing in the morning. They are there on the otherside of the rainbow. We will see them again when it's our time to go. For now it's Trica time to fly with the angels. May God Bless and keep each and everyone of you in the palm of his hand. Love Jeanmarie Moffatt Bach.
