1948 - 2026

OBITUARY

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Acosta (Nick) of New Hyde Park, New York.

He passed away peacefully on Friday May 15, 2026 at the age of 77 surrounded by his loved ones.

Nick was born on June 15, 1948 to Lucy and Nicolas Acosta in Brooklyn, New York. He married Soraida on August 4, 1973. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter and love for 53 years. Nick is survived by his two children; his daughter Nicole (Sixto) and his son Nicholas (Melissa). He was the proud grandfather of his five grandchildren: Anthony, Benjamin, Nicholas, Cole and Arabella.

Nick served in the United States Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a carpenter by trade and spent 30 years working for the New York Transit Authority. He was an avid inventor and creator of games.

Nick was a family man. He valued time spent with his loved ones. He always had a story to tell or a memory to create. Nick lent a helping hand at every corner and never hesitated when someone needed him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the steady caring presence he brought to all who knew him.

"Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I'll miss you until we meet again."
