Oh man, I just found out about this. I am so sad that I didn't know. Michael will be in my prayers as will the Breen Family.
Mikey, our cousin Anne Hannan put it best. You pulled the ultimate "Irish Goodbye" on all of us. That was always my move. It is now... eternally yours. You bastard. Love you always and forever, and will miss you the same.
My cousin Mike and I were born just a few short months apart - although I was always ready to let him know which one of us was the eldest when he needed reminding. We spent so many happy days as kids together in Bayside NY and Ireland and many more as young adults in New York in the 80s and too few times in the intervening years. We shared so many interests and because of his Intelligence, wit, ready laugh and innate likeability, he was always great company. Mike, it seems impossible that we won't get to spend more time together in the future (at least in this life) and we'll all miss you tremendously whenever there's a family…
Such a loss. My cousin Mike had a deep and lasting impact on my life. As kids, we saw each other frequently. Michael regularly came to our house for holidays and family get-togethers. We also went to the Breen home. Some of my fondest memories of Michael are associated with a small lake in the Adirondacks, Friends Lake. My family would go every year and Michael often came along. Mike always seemed like the smartest guy I knew. He liked all kinds of nerdy stuff (Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Beatles, etc) that he would sometimes tell me about. It always inspired me and led life-long interests on my part. Thank you Michael Breen, for spending some time with…
Mike, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all... I know that when I hear Glory of Love or Sweet Melissa, that it is you, playing it for us. You will be so missed.
