OBITUARY
Maryalice McCann (nee Corrigan) was born in 1950 in Queens, New York. She is the oldest of 7 children and is survived by her two sisters Eilen Corrigan and Patricia Corrigan, and three brothers Malachy Corrigan, John Corrigan and Kevin Corrigan. She is predeceased by her parents Malachy and Irene Corrigan and her brother Thomas Corrigan.
Maryalice married Arthur McCann and they had two children, Matthew and Kathryn. Arthur passed away in 2018. She is survived by her son and daughter, daughter-in-law Melissa McCann nee Gosdzinski, son-in-law James P. Dixon and three grandchildren, John Malachy McCann, Andrew Arthur McCann, and James Arthur Dixon
Maryalice dedicated her professional career to Catholic education. She attended Our Lady of Wisdom Academy for high school and Queens College on an academic scholarship. Maryalice then - from the early 1970s through the Covid-19 Pandemic - taught in Catholic elementary schools throughout Queens. First, Sacred Heart in Glendale, then St. Anastasia in Douglaston, and finally at St. Sebastian in Woodside. She touched the lives of thousands of students during her time in education, and considered her career to be a calling, and part of her Catholic lay ministry.
Maryalice along with Arthur was an active parishioner at both St. Gregory the Great in Bellerose and St. Anne's in Garden City over the last 40 years. She & Arthur together led pre-Cana groups & were involved in parish faith formation and social ministry.
Maryalice was an avid reader, trivia buff, Scrabble maven, and Yankee diehard. She opened her homes for all family for holidays throughout the year and took her role as host quite seriously. Maryalice was keen on politics without ever surrendering to one extreme or the other, taught her children the value and role of civic duty, community service, and prayer and enjoyed her role as Nana over the last thirteen years.

I will miss you my friend. You had the biggest heart, so caring, thoughtful, loving, generous and full of faith. You would do everything in your power to help a friend, which I benefited from many times. I can't thank you enough for your friendship. I just wish we had more time. I'm sure you are looking down on us from Heaven right now. Rest in Peace Maryalice
Kathryn & Matthew, it is with sadness that I read Maryalice has passed away. She was a beautiful person and the Christmas Mary and I visited NY she made us very welcome. She is with Artie now watching over you and your families. Rest in Peace Maryalice, thinking of you all.
I will always remember Maryalice as a kind, gracious and welcoming soul. I'm so sad for your loss. My prayers for you all.
We will miss dear Maryalice at Camp. Her family will be in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time..
