Age 90 New Hyde Park, New York
Mrs. Mary Teresa O’Hara (née Walsh), age 90, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Manhasset, New York. Born on November 10, 1935, in Toberroddy, Aclare, County Sligo, Ireland, Mary’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and family.
Mary grew up in the picturesque countryside of County Sligo, where she developed a deep connection to her Irish heritage—a legacy she cherished throughout her life. Her journey eventually brought her to the United States, where she built a beautiful life centered around her family.
Mary was the beloved wife of Leo P. O’Hara and a devoted mother to their six children: Michael J. O’Hara, Leo G. O’Hara, Brendan J. O’Hara, Thomas V. O’Hara, and Catherine M. O’Hara. She was predeceased by her son Patrick and her brothers Patsy Walsh, James Walsh and Frank Walsh. Mary took immense pride in her role as a mother and extended that love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A Wake will be held on March 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, NY. A Funeral Mass will follow on March 27, 2026, at 10:45 AM at Notre Dame Church, located at 5 Mayfair Road, New Hyde Park, NY.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mary’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
