OBITUARY

Mark Anthony Farina, was born on December 15th, 1954 to Elizabeth and Anthony “Duke” Farina, both lifelong residents of New Hyde Park. He passed away peacefully on April 27th, 2020. Loving husband to his wife, Deborah for 42 years. Beloved father of James (Alyson), Matthew (Melissa), and Thomas (Samantha). Wonderful grandfather of Kyle, Benjamin, Layla, Zachary, Matthew and Timothy who loved and adored him. Since the age of 18, Mark has been an active member of the “Protection Engine Company #2” of the New Hyde Park Fire Department. He was an ex-Captain and served proudly for 46 years. He worked for the Incorporated Village of New Hyde Park for 38 years where he became the highway foreman. He volunteered tirelessly in the community with organizations such as the New Hyde Park Little League as a past President, and also as a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Parish. Mark had since retired and enjoyed spending his free time on the beach and boating on the east end of Long Island. He loved taking his grandchildren to Monster Jam, cheering them on at dance recitals and swim meets, or enjoying “Timmy-time”. It’s hard to find Mark not doing something for his family, community and neighbors. He was proud of his work, his community, and his roots, but most proud of his family. Mark’s love for family was shown with hugs and embraces that made you feel good being with him. Mark Farina had that special something that makes you realize that your life is a whole lot better for having known him. INTERMENT Holy Rood Cemetery 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY

So sorry for your loss, Debbie. My brother, William Sabanos (1955-1996) went to Holy Spirit with Mark. May our Good God give you peace.

From reading this beautiful tribute and condolences, I can see what a wonderful and beloved man your husband was, I only wish I knew him under different circumstances. It sounds like he had a profound impact on so many people in his community, so his spirit will always live on. From our conversations I could tell that the most important thing to him was his family. I know his passing has left an unfillable void.

My heart goes out to the Farina family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Mark was my little league coach when I was younger. I have great memories playing baseball on his team along with Tom. I'll always remember Mark as a great role model and a good person. I miss those days and will always look back on them fondly. Thank you Coach Farina, you will always be missed!
