OBITUARY
Maria A. Flood
March 9, 1943 - April 22, 2026 (age 83)
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother “Gibby", and friend passed away on April 22, 2026.
Maria, the beloved wife of Joseph, “Jay”, literally married the boy next door, her childhood sweetheart. They were married for 61 years and considered themselves lucky for the love story they shared and the life they built. They loved spending time on the beach in the Hamptons, especially in Montauk.
Maria, also known lovingly as “Gibby,” to her grandchildren, was the quintessential Mom and caregiver. She was blessed with 2 children Keri (Brian) and Lauren (Chris) as well as 4 wonderful grandchildren Connor, Kylie, Brenna, and Ryan. She loved playing with them, and proudly watched them grow. Maria was the daughter of Anna and John Bobbio, and sister to Anthony, growing up in Jackson Heights, Queens. She worked as an accountant for Pan Am and traveled the world.
She was incredibly strong, brave, and a loyal protector to her children, grandchildren and elderly parents. She often worked tirelessly behind the scenes planning, organizing, cleaning, and making everything work seamlessly, never looking for the spotlight but making a huge impact on the family and friends she loved. She gave the best advice and was always there when you needed her. She always had a twinkle in her beautiful green eyes that watched out for us always.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jay, daughters Keri (Brian) and Lauren (Chris), and grandchildren Connor, Kylie, Brenna and Ryan, whom she cherished. Additionally, Maria is survived by her brother Anthony (Rosanna), sister-in-laws Debbie, Colleen and Barbara, along with numerous nephews and nieces and their families. She is predeceased by her parents, Anna and John Bobbio and in-laws, Eugene and Josephine Flood, and Eugene (Betty), Gerard (Louise), Patrick, and Jeff.
