Margaret “Peggy” Fay
(née Goodwin)
February 7, 1940 – February 27, 2026
Margaret “Peggy” Fay, 86, of Garden City, New York, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Peggy was the beloved wife of John F. Fay, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, partnership, and faith. She was a loving and proud mother to Maureen (Tom) Dowling, Nancy Fay Mason, and John (Lynne) Fay. Nothing brought her greater joy than her family. She was the cherished grandmother of Brian Dowling, Kathryn Dowling, Liam (Melanie) Mason, Sean Mason, Kevin Mason, Caroline Fay, Caitlyn Fay, and Megan Fay, and the adoring great-grandmother of Annie Fay Mason.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Chic and Jerry Goodwin.
A nurse by calling and by heart, Peggy devoted much of her life to caring for others. She began her career at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre and later served as a visiting nurse, bringing skill, compassion, and comfort into the homes of countless families. Nursing was not simply her profession — it was an expression of her generous spirit and deep empathy.
Faith was the foundation of Peggy’s life. A devoted member of Saint Anne’s Parish in Garden City, she sang in the choir for many years, lifting her voice in praise and fellowship. Her parish community was an extended family to her.
Peggy will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, her unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family. She lived a life of service — to her patients, her church, her friends, and most especially to those she loved most.
