The Road Between Us
You came to this land at thirteen years old,
A boy with dreams, a heart made of gold.
Hands on the wheel, miles stretched wide,
A truck full of stories, the road as your guide.
You and Mom parted when I was just two,
A distance grew where love once grew.
Through teenage years, silence stood tall,
Words unspoken, a widening wall.
Then came my twins, small hands, bright eyes,
And for a time, we set hurt aside.
Under one roof, we tried once more,
Laughter like echoes through an open door.
But time has a way of slipping past,
Wounds unhealed, shadows cast.
We drifted again, years turned cold,
A love still there, but left…
