OBITUARY
Luisa Veneziale passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at her home in Garden City, New York, surrounded by her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Raffaele Veneziale, who died in 2012. She is survived by her sons Cosmo Veneziale of Garden City and Nicholas Veneziale of Connecticut; daughters-in-law Colette Veneziale and Susan Veneziale; grandchildren Marcella Veneziale and husband Dalibor Grudenic, Cosmo Veneziale Jr., and Christopher Veneziale; and great-granddaughter Eva Grudenic.
Luisa was born in Isernia, Italy, in 1921. She lived through the Great Depression and survived multiple bombings in her hometown during World War II. She immigrated to the United States in 1953 on the “MS Vulcania” vessel and arrived at Ellis Island. She resided in Brooklyn, New York, where she worked as a seamstress for many years and retired as a homemaker. Luisa lived in Garden City, New York, with her family since 1993. She moved to Long Island in 1983, residing in Floral Park, New York, with her son Cosmo and daughter-in-law Colette. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved watching videos of the newest member of the family, great-granddaughter Eva. She helped raise her grandchildren, Marcella and Cosmo Jr., and was the matriarch of her family. She was a wonderful cook and passed along her love of cooking and family recipes to her daughter-in-law Colette. She was energetic into her 90s and continued cooking until she was 95 years old. She was 98 years old at the time of her death. She will always be remembered by her family for her loving, warm heart and strong spirit. Luisa will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, New York.

Dear Veneziale Family,
We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, mother, and mother-In-law.
Although we never had the privilege of meeting her, we have heard only highest praise of her character from Sophia. There is no doubt that her passing will be a great loss to all who knew her. We pray that your memories of Luisa will enable you to carry on her traditions and legacy for many many years to come.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Grandma Luisa. Reading about her life brought me great joy and a sense of gratitude for having the opportunity to have known and loved her. I will forever hold the special memories I have of Luisa close to my heart. Her strong spirit and warm heart will continue to inspire me throughout my life.
