OBITUARY

Louis Biele, 92, passed away on May 21, 2021 after a long hospital stay with his wife, Frances, beside him. They fell in love at a church dance and were married for 64 years. Louis was born on February 2, 1929 of the late Mary Mattia Biele and Louis Biele. He grew up on Hughes Avenue in the Bronx and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. He then entered the Army National Guard and was stationed at Ft. Drum, NY. Louis worked as a dispatcher for the New Haven Railroad for a short time before entering the NYPD as a patrolman, working in the Times Square area. He was promoted to Detective and worked in the Queens Burglary Squad until his retirement in 1973. He went back to school and earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from John Jay College and worked for many years in security and operations management, notably managing the Albee Square Mall in Brooklyn, NY. As a retiree, Louis took a job as a vault attendant at Astoria Federal Bank in Great Neck, NY.

Louis was outgoing and energetic and enjoyed many activities over his lifetime including baseball, wrestling, dancing, singing, gardening, and fishing. He was also a poet and writer in his retirement and left us many beautiful poems to treasure. Louis was most dedicated to his family and leaves behind his wife Frances (Anzalone) and two daughters, Dr. Diane Biele of Massapequa, NY and her husband, Dr. Walter Gaudino, and MaryAnn Biele of Newton Highlands, MA, and her husband, Dr. Louis Pasquale. He is also survived by his grandchildren Daniel Pasquale, Stephen Gaudino, and Linda Gaudino and her husband Brian Schwartz.
