OBITUARY

Lois Rita Gatto, 85, of New Hyde Park, NY, passed away on December 20th, 2023.

Lois was born in Queens on September 20th, 1938 to Pauline and Vincent Maticka. After graduating from Jamaica High School, she went on to study education at Hunter College. After graduation, she worked as an elementary school teacher. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia, son-in-law Daniel, and four grandchildren - Matthew, Peter, Thomas, and Christina Barry. Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter in addition to three daughters - Joanne, Lynda, and Christine Gatto. She loved to travel, often taking her family on trips across the world. Some of her favorite places to visit were the Bahamas, San Francisco, Czech Republic, Ireland, and Italy. She doted on her grandchildren and spent her life spreading her kindness to everyone around her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or by donating blood/plasma at any local blood donation center. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, may she rest in peace.
