OBITUARY
Jose Gonzalez, age 71, passed away on October 11th, 2025, in Levittown NY. Jose leaves behind a loving family: his daughter, Melissa (Sean); his daughter Mariselle; grandchildren, Justin and Taylor; his brother, Ramon; his sisters, Ana and Migdalia. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Caridad and Angel, his brothers Santiago, Gumercindo, Angel Luis and Miguel; and sister, Fe.
Jose grew up in Brooklyn and is a Thomas Jefferson High School graduate. Jose worked for the NYC Department of Sanitation for 16 years until he retired after a line of duty injury. In 1974, Jose married his high school sweetheart, Marisel. They spent time between New York and Puerto Rico, especially the towns of Anasco and Quebradillas where their families still reside.
Jose, affectionately known as Mingo had an affinity for old cars, dominoes, and music. Always the life of the party, Jose loved to host get-togethers, and family parties. Later in life, he moved to Long Island to be closer to his grandchildren Justin and Taylor. Jose succumbed to a yearlong battle with cancer. Any donations made would be asked to consider St Jude Children’s Hospital.
