Sorry to hear this. Worked for John at his gas stations always a good guy. Rest easy and God bless his family
We have been neighbors with John & his family since 1986. Neighbors like John helped each other all year around especially during the Winter months. My husband, Les always joined him in helping shovel out neighbors. He’ll be missed by his neighbors.
I came to know John through my cousin Joe. They were looking for a 4th to go in on Yankee tickets. I joked with John that it was the best and worst move I ever made. I was a season ticket holder but John controlled the tickets. He loved telling me that I was getting the games nobody else wanted. His line was always the same, "but Richie, you don't understand". John and I made an art form of picking on each other. His passing is extremely sad and I pray for comfort for Laura and the family.

Needless to say two years later we invested in Yankee season tickets that we held for 30 years. We also shared season seats to the Jets, Giants and New jersey Generals. His favorite Sundays was attending a Yankee game till the 5th inning and running to a 4pm kickoff in the Meadowlands.

From pickup games in the street and at the Road School, to playing Little League, picking up our papers for our paper routes, or getting gas at one of John’s gas stations, he was always there.
At a young age, John had an incredible work ethic. My father noticed that early on and would always make a point of getting his gas at John’s gas stations because he respected the way John worked and carried himself.
After I graduated college and landed my first job, about two years later I was…
