OBITUARY

James Hinchy, 61 years old, died peacefully, Friday morning, November 7, 2025, at his home in Floral Park, NY, surrounded by his family. Jim battled several cancers bravely, and he fought his illness with remarkable courage and an unwavering faith, to the very end. He was born September 04,1964, in Floral Park, a son of the late George and Margaret Hinchy. A graduate of Floral Park Memorial High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1988 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the nation's oldest, one of the world's most renowned, technological research universities. His career took off in New York City, where he dedicated 36 years to Local One as an elevator mechanic. Jim took honor in his work, providing for his family with humility, integrity, and unwavering devotion. His work ethic was unparalleled, his loyalty unwavering, and his kindness evident to everyone who knew him. He was simple, humble, selfless by nature, and always left you smiling after any conversation, because he was pure and good. Jim was a man of profound faith, simplicity, and generosity. His gentle presence and easy smile had a unique way of brightening every conversation. He lived a purposeful yet simple life, guided by honesty, humility, and love. Jim is survived by his wife, Susan, of seventeen years, and his children Raymond, Jennifer, and Lindsay. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Mary Ellen and Thomas Bonadonna, Catherine and Jeffrey Norman, Agnes and Rocco Sollecitto, and Maryann and Michael Hinchy. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and other members of his extended family. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will live on in the wisdom, laughter, and love he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him, and to have been loved by him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for the repose of Jim’s soul at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 2 Floral Pkwy, Floral Park, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Rd, New Hyde Park, NY, on Tuesday, November 11, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the American Cancer Society by visiting www.cancer.org. Or please have a Mass said in Jim's name.
