Jacqueline Rubano

1951 - 2024

OBITUARY

Jackie entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 29, 2024. She was 72 years old. Jackie was born on September 9, 1951, in Amityville, Long Island to Joseph and Mary Barbara.

Married to him for 51 years, Jackie met Doug while working at the same company where her mother-in-law, Marguerite, found her life-long love, Al.

Jackie took such inexhaustible delight in her children, her grandchildren, and all children in her extended family. Each of them found a secure and trusted place to lay their heads and get a warm bear hug.

The first to greet you at the back door with a warm smile and a long hug, Jackie was a gentle person who found joy in sharing love. She saw the best in people and was eager to console and comfort all who entered her life.

Making meals for her family was never an obligation but a gift to her loved ones. Gathered at her table, all became aware of what family means, how it can create a communion that can be savored forever.

Surrounded by her rowdy family, she was often quiet. However, not infrequently, she would spontaneously double over with laughter, leading to a contagious merriment and levity for everyone present.

Devoted to Christ, she closed every evening with a Bible in her hand, for many years leading church Bible study for adults and Sunday school classes for youth.

The smell of her wonderful spaghetti sauce simmering in sausages and meatballs, her combustive laughter, her comforting touch, and so much more, will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Jackie is survived by her husband “Papa” Doug, her children Doug and Margo, and her five grandchildren.
