1/28/1919 - 3/27/2020

OBITUARY Helen Natalie Limbach, age 101, of Greenport, NY, passed away March 27, 2020, at her residence. She was born January 28, 1919, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, one of the daughters of John and Mary Filip. Helen was predeceased by Wilfred T. Limbach, her beloved husband of 44 years, and her sisters, Julia Leicht, Josephine Tankiewicz, and Veronica Plucinski; comprising the famous four “Filip Sisters.” She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Valerie Malley (John), Wilfred A. Limbach (Laura), and Janet Camean (Joseph). Helen was an effervescent supporter of her family and doted over her eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She took to heart being a beloved aunt and great aunt, endeared by her many nieces and nephews as “Aunt Honey.” She raised her family in New Hyde Park, NY, where she was also an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and the Columbiettes. Helen and her husband, “Woody,” were also active in their town cultural commission. She spent her childhood summers with her aunt and uncle on their farm in Old Lyme, CT. Helen began her career as a stenographer with Metropolitan Life, later joining Aetna Insurance and retired as an office manager. Her love of family made her the center of activities, always bringing the family together, making wonderful memories such as leading her family in “Sto Lat” at birthday celebrations. She was a woman of the greatest generation who gave the best she could to her family and community. Speaking for the entire family, we feel blessed for having her in our lives. As there are no floral tributes possible at this time, if you would like to honor Helen’s life, please make a contribution to either St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or The Humane Society of New York. All the whiffle ball games on your side yard with Cousin Buster trying not to hit the Rambler or Uncle Woody's beautiful garden. Aunt Honey, your smile always could light up a room and our lives!! All our love.
