OBITUARY

Douglas Gerard Vetter, age 55, of San Jose, CA, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 after a decade long battle with cancer. Doug was born to the late Richard Charles Vetter and Virginia Nash Vetter on April 19, 1966 in Bellerose, New York. He is survived by his sisters Virginia, Susan, and Cathyanne and his brothers Richard (Mary) and Gregory (Gina); nieces and nephews Nicholas, Nicole, Thomas, Lauren, Shannon, Gregory, Megan, Justin, Richard, Daniel, and Richie.


Doug attended grade school at both St. Gregory the Great (Bellerose) and Our Lady of Victory (Floral Park, NY) and High School at Floral Park Memorial. He was a double alumnus of St. John’s University (St. John’s College and St. John’s School of Law) and practiced law for IBM and Apple. His work at Apple, where he was Vice President and Associate General Counsel, moved him across the country where he achieved great professional success and developed wonderful friendships.


Doug will be remembered by his friends and family for his strong work ethic, sharp intellect, and great wit, but most importantly, for his love of family and incredible generosity. I only now learned of Doug's passing. I'm stunned and saddened. I worked with Doug indirectly when he was at IBM. He was the nicest, sweetest guy and we had many laughs together. My condolences to his family and friends on their loss.

I just learned of Doug's passing. Doug was a highly respected leader at Apple. He was brilliant, extremely knowledgable, always kind and very humble. I will miss his smile, laugh and his positive personality. May God rest his soul.

So very sorry to hear about Doug's passing. I was his 1st assistant at IBM upon him becoming a lawyer. Doug was so wonderful and will be missed by all his family friends and colleagues.
