OBITUARY
Dorothy Casey (née Allex) passed away at home, in the loving presence of her family, on May 19th, 2025 at the age of 90. Dorothy was born on March 5th, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to Harry Peter Allex Jr. and Dorothy Allex (née Ryan). Dorothy enjoyed the first few years of her life at 87 Quincy Street with her family before moving to Jamaica, Queens. Dorothy graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in January of 1953.
Dorothy married James J. Casey in 1956 and worked as a bookkeeper before settling down and having her son James. After the birth of her son, Dorothy settled in New Hyde Park, NY in the house she would call home for the rest of her life.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time surrounded by family and friends, going to the Belmont Race Track, and getting her hair done every Thursday. She had fond memories of going to The Riverview in South Jersey. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles and sudoku, listening to Elvis, and rooting for the Mets. She adored her granddaughters Kyra and Amanda and was lucky enough to meet her great-grandson Francesco.
She is predeceased by her father Harry Peter Allex Jr., her mother Dorothy Allex, her sister Joyce Gerstmann, James J. Casey, and her daughter-in-law Denise Casey. She is survived by her son James P. Casey, granddaughters Amanda Casey and Kyra Viola (Salvatore), great-grandson Francesco Viola, brothers Harry Peter Allex III and Kenneth Allex, and numerous nieces and nephews. All will miss her dearly.
