OBITUARY
Christopher James Smith passed away on November 30th, 2021, at the age of 73. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years Joanne, son David Smith and wife Sylvia, daughter Allyson Kelly and husband Michael, his five grandchildren Christopher, Julianne, Maeve, Sean and Ryan, and his nephew Michael Smith and wife Gillian. He will be remembered as a firecracker who loved discussing politics, the New York Mets, music, reading, and playing his guitar. He adored his grandchildren and was a wonderful grandfather, often learning songs to play on his guitar just for them. Christopher and his wife often reminisced and told incredible stories about their time at the historic Woodstock Music Festival and other adventures of their youth. In his twenties, Christopher worked as a mailman and paid his own way through college and law school, then worked as an attorney for more than 40 years, first in Manhattan and then via his own practice. He was a willful man with the luck of the Irish always on his side- he survived a brain aneurysm, a kidney transplant, and numerous other health issues. We are comforted knowing that he is now resting peacefully.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday December 10th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, NY.

It is sad news to have lost an adolescent friend...... While I haven't seen Chris in 40+ years. He and I were good friends in music and other things. While we all grow up and move in our own directions and locations. I have fond memories and the upmost respect for him. He was a hard worker and worked tiring hours at the post office to put himself through college and law school, and took care of raising a family. Although I am thousands of miles away my deepest condolences to his wife Joanne and the family...... He was a well liked person with a good heart sense of humor, and purpose.
