OBITUARY

Charles W. Jung, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away on January 16, 2026, surrounded by his children and their spouses and his devoted caregiver. Charlie recently celebrated his 97th birthday with family. Charlie grew up in Hicksville, New York. Charlie’s life on Long Island was rich because of the lifelong friendships he developed and maintained and the incredible family that he and his beautiful wife Patricia nurtured. Charlie often proudly mentioned that he grew up in a family of 4 but was now part of a family of over 50. He was often heard saying, “I love each and every one of you.” Charlie’s love story with his wife Patricia began at a local roller-skating rink when they were teenagers. Their 57 yearlong marriage was rich in laughter, love, celebrations, and much travel. Charlie was predeceased by Patricia (2011). He is survived by his children Kathleen (Robert), Eileen (Gary), Marianne (Craig) Beth (Gary), Barbara (Fernando) Charles (Ruth), and Robert (Amanda). Charles and Patricia were blessed with 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Charlie’s work ethic was impressive. He picked potatoes in the fields of Hicksville and worked any job needed at Jones Beach State Park to fund his education. He earned his Engineering Degree from Polytechnical Institute and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Adelphi University on Long Island. Charlie thoroughly enjoyed his long career as an Electrical Engineer with Grumman Aerospace Corp. In his retirement he was presented with an image of the E2C Tactics Trainer, a project he thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. Charlie’s career achievements were many and he enjoyed regaling his family, friends and caregivers with stories of his work and travels. What most enriched his life and brought him the most joy in his older years were visits from his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and any treats they would deliver. Being with family was so very important to Dad, and he took many vacations with his beloved wife and also with various of his children and their families. But one of his favorites was the many many trips we made as an extended family to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There, in his younger days he would body surf and swim in the ocean with his kids and grandkids. In later years he enjoyed relaxing on the deck with a book while watching the family on the beach and listening to the surf and laughter from those he loved most. His wife and family were his greatest source of happiness.

We will always remember Mr. Jung for his kindness, strength and wisdom. He always provided a great example on life and how he treated others. When our son first came home and we asked for some child rearing advice, he simply said "... consistency is key...." Words never forgotten. We will miss him.

Charles and Pat were the first to welcome us to our new home 30 years ago. Being his next door neighbor is such a blessing. Pat and Charlie would come and have dinner with us on occasions, and share their knowledge of gardening and everything you need to know about everything! After Pat passed away, Charlie would always keep himself active with meetings and dinner with friends. When you doing something nice for Charlie, he wouldn't let it go unnoticed...because I have a line up of ‘Charlie's angels' lined up on my shelf!

I'm going to miss the signature Charlie laugh, and our over the fence conversations and seeing you sunbathing... I'm going to miss you tremendously Charlie, rest in…
