OBITUARY
Catherine Madeline Tamis passed away in her home in Flushing, NY on December 31, 2020, surrounded by her four beloved daughters, Catherine, Lisa, Jacqueline and Anne Marie. Catherine deeply loved her husband of 51 years, the late Anthony Francis, and dedicated the early years of their marriage to providing a warm and loving home for the family. Catherine very much valued the importance of education. After her four daughters graduated with professional degrees, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Queens College. Catherine loved reading, shopping, travel and weekend getaways, the seaside, celebrating holidays and family milestones, and debating politics. She spent her life surrounded by the laughter of her loving daughters and her grandchildren, Brittany, Christopher, Zachary, Michael, Ashleigh, Vivian, Gabrielle, Richard and Filippo, and she shared in the joy of the birth of her great granddaughter Lila. Catherine truly lived life to the fullest. Her memory will live on in our hearts as we carry on her legacy.

Mrs. Tamis - you will be so greatly missed by your whole family. I never had the pleasure of meeting you but you will love in in my heart through all the wonderful stories I heard about you. I love your whole family but especially the Nasello's as they are my Spirit Family. I will think of you in heaven reunited with Mr. Tamis and giving everyone a run for their money
I send all my love to my dearest friend Annemarie, and all my thoughts for her beautiful mother. My memories of Mrs. Tamis bring me back to when I moved to NY, when she welcomed me in her home for Thanksgiving and several family gatherings, surrounded by the joy of her marvelous children and grandchildren. I deeply enjoyed her lovely hospitality, her elegance, her intelligence; most of all, I treasure in my mind the image of Mr. and Mrs. Tamis, smiling at each other while looking at the wonderful family they created, and through which they will always live. I met Catherine over 20 years ago at the Roslyn Landmark Society where she planned wonderful lectures, dinners and trips for its members. I met Ruth and her friend Sonya there and eventually the four of us celebrated our November birthdays, one August birthday and Christmas with special lunches. Catherine and I went on a memorable trip to Spain a few years back and they all attended my daughter's baby shower. Catherine always told us about the wonderful trips and activities she did with her daughters and their families. She was so proud of all of them. The four of us were hoping to have lunch together again at Fillmore's once the pandemic was over. She will be greatly missed…
