OBITUARY
Carmela (Mignoli) McQuade was born on July 16, 1929. She grew up in Little Italy between Mulberry and Spring St. She eventually moved to the Suburbs of Long Island and settled in New Hyde Park with her husband, James McQuade. While James was busy as a battalion chief of the FDNY, Carmela stayed home raising 4 children. In retirement, Carmela and Jim lived a wonderful life traveling to all corners of the world, never taking anything for granted. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a strong, caring, tough minded woman.
Her family will miss her terribly, but are reassured that she is in a better place and re-united with her husband Jim in heaven.

My condolences to my cousins on the passing of Aunt Millie. She lived life on her own terms and brought a hearty laughter to all of her surroundings. I'm a firm believer that when we lose someone close to us, they continue to live through us, and give us strength as they are part of us. Regrettably, I am not able to be present and will cherish the memories shared during our youth. To my cousins, as you walk through the coming days, always remember a mother's love is eternal, hold onto that love and let it guide you into the future.
I'm sorry for your loss. May the memories of the good times be the lasting legacy.

To my McQuade Cousins, my deepest condolenses on the loss of "Aunt Millie". I will always remember her for her wonderful laugh and humor. The stories of her youth. Turnips at Thanksgiving. It's the only time I ever ate turnips was at Thanksgiving. Holiday meals were such fun. Both your parents were a wonderful couple and now I hope they will find everlasting peace and happiness together again. I'm so sorry that I will not be able to join you this week.
