OBITUARY

Bruce E. Turner Sr., 90 years of New Hyde Park passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, daughter, Tracy (Glenn), 4 grandchildren, Melissa, Kevin, Samantha & Ashley and 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his son, Bruce Jr. (Liz). Adored by his many nieces and nephews, especially Magda (Pawel) & Hanna.

Bruce grew up in New Hyde Park where he started working at Mockawetch Florist as a young teenager and later devoted his life to the florist he would call his own. Bruce settled in Syosset where he raised his family and later returned to New Hyde Park where he has resided with Barbara for the last 30 years.

Bruce took pride in tending to his greenhouses and creating beautiful floral masterpieces for every occasion. He also enjoyed gardening in his yard where he grew enough vegetables to supply the entire neighborhood.

Bruce loved baseball and his favorite team was the METS, he enjoyed traveling —especially to Hawaii— and lived life to the fullest. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be deeply missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.

Dear Turner Family, I was truly sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. He was such a nice guy. I lived down the street from Mockawetch. Bruce & Mr Mockawetch taught me so much about flowers & designing. I ended up working as a floral designer for 15 years. Thank you Bruce for teaching me so many things and your patience with a 13 year old.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Dad was such a sweet man, and a very talented florist. His floral arrangements were like no other, so beautiful. My Mother displayed one of his arrangements on her dining room table for so many years. When we would have a family dinner, she would always say remember this is the arrangement Uncle Bruce made for me! I have so many fond memories of our summer vacations on Long Island, and your visits to Reading. The boys really tested our parent's patience! May he rest in peace with the all the Turner/Bayer family members we have lost. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time.

I am so sorry. Your dad was an awesome guy and a true gentleman. I am sorry Diane and I will not be able to attend the service, but we will be there in spirit with our thoughts and prayers. I will always remember the amazing times we had during our summer vacations, both in Reading and Syosset. Also, your dads funky work shoes. God bless and take care of yourself during this difficult time of mourning.
