1969 - 2026

OBITUARY

Balthasar “Bob” Calabrese passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at home in Naples, Florida, on March 7, 2026. He was 56.

Born on December 2, 1969, in Mineola, NY, Bob was the son of Giovanni (John) and Joanne Calabrese. He grew up in Great Neck, NY, attended St. Aloysius School, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset in 1987. In 1991, he earned his degree in business and marketing from St. John’s University. Bob began working alongside his father in the family business, Calabrese Electrical, as a teenager, eventually taking over when his father retired in 2001. Through hard work and dedication, Bob expanded Calabrese Electrical into one of the North Shore of Long Island’s premier electrical contracting businesses, specializing in residential estates. He sold the business and retired in 2024.

Bob met his future wife, Lori, in 1997, and they married in April 2003 on the beach in Trelawny, Jamaica, among 70 family members and friends. They lived in Manhasset, NY and later moved to Naples, Florida.  Together, Bob and Lori enjoyed traveling to new destinations, savoring local cuisines, and spending time at the beach.

Bob is survived by his wife of almost 23 years, Lori; his mother, Joanne Calabrese; his siblings, Andrea Calabrese (Lucio Gonzalez), Paula (John) Tzikas, John Calabrese (Leah Bigall); his in-laws, Mark Jaskowski, Julie Jaskowski, and Mike (Kristen) Jaskowski; nine nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved dalmatian, Clyde. He was predeceased by his father, Giovanni; his in-laws, Mel and Betty Jaskowski; his uncles, Ferdinando Calabrese and Vincent Pinti; and his sister-in-law, Tara Jaskowski.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob will be remembered as an honest and trustworthy businessman and a faithful, loyal, and generous friend. If you were lucky enough to call Bob your friend, you were indeed blessed. Bob had an amazing sense of humor and equally amazing (read: awful) dance moves. He loved to travel and especially loved going off the beaten path.  He also loved grilling and puttering around with the electronics in his man cave. Above all, his favorite pastime was walking with his dogs.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, NY, with a memorial service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bob’s memory to the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University or the Potsdam (NY) Humane Society.
