OBITUARY

Beatrice Kaimakliotis, nee Duane, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 93.

Bea was the daughter of Beatrice (nee McDermott) and James Duane, immigrants from Ireland who met and married in New York. She is the sister to three brothers John, Robert and James, all of whom have predeceased her. Bea was the loving mother to Beatrice and Michael and loving mother-in-law to Andrew Robertson and Sabine Burkhalter. She was a devoted grandmother to four: Nicholas and Alexander, sons of Beatrice and Andrew, and Christie and Aris, children of Michael and Sabine. She was also very close to her nieces, Patty Roberts and Gerry Duane Williams, and their families.

Bea (or Mom or Mrs. K as she was affectionately known) grew up in the Bronx and was married for 25 years. Prior to having children, she worked for the phone company and later returned to work at Lehman College of the City University of New York.

More than anything, she cared about her family and was always there to spend time and support them. She was steadfast in her love and selfless in her actions. She loved being surrounded by her family. As a mother, she was would frequently be seen at the tennis courts when her children were young, sitting on a park bench and watching them play. As a grandmother, she played a consequential role in helping her grandchildren grow and develop into responsible and caring teenagers and young adults.

At the time of her death, she was living in Floral Park with her daughter and family and spent countless hours with them - sharing meals, playing Bingo, watching the news and Jeopardy and making memories. She loved to sit on the porch, converse with neighbors and watch people go by. She loved to travel to Switzerland to visit her son and his family, when time and her health permitted.

She had a positive impact on those she met and possessed a ready smile and a quick wit. She was well loved, and she will be greatly missed.
