Ann Carragher (Marrinan)

May 28, 1942 – June 26, 2023

Beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend to All, who touched others through her thoughts, words, actions and laughter. She loved being surrounded by her family and grandchildren, entertaining friends and loved ones from Ireland. She was devoted and loving.

Ann Carragher (Marrinan) was born in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare Ireland and travelled to the United States (New York) in 1961. She was one of 9 children born to John and Catherine Marrinan: Bridie, Kitty, Mary, Nora, Margaret, John, Monica and Clare.

Ann met her beloved husband Aidan at an Irish Dance at City Center in 1962. They married on September 5, 1963 at the Queen of Angels Church in Sunnyside, Queens. They lived together in Sunnyside early in their marriage then moved out to Whitestone for the best part of their lives. They were blessed with six children whom she adored, Ann Marie (Oscar), Cathy (Domenic), Helena (Robert), Aidan, Christina (Matthew) and Brenda (James).

Ann was blessed with 14 grandchildren; Michael, Aidan, Isabel, Kaitlyn, Ava, Julia, Matias, Dalyn, Owen, Vaughn, Mia, Matthew, Olivia and Luca. Ann is also survived by her sisters, Nora, Margaret and Monica, her brother in law’s Albert, Hughie and Gerry and her sister-in-law Deirdre as well as countless nephews and nieces. Irish Music was an important part of their life and she enjoyed her trips back to Spanish Point to see her family and listen to live music at the Armada.

So sorry to hear of Auntie Anns passing. For the few times I was fortunate to meet her in Cootehill and in her home in Whitestone she was so kind and caring, a beautiful person both inside and outside. I was glad to hear via Peadar that she made it home to her nearest and dearest from hospital. My sincere condolences to you all.
