OBITUARY
Achille Primo Gallo passed away on April 13th, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on January 1st, 1942, in Nocera Terinese, Calabria, Italy. Achille came to America in 1958 and became a barber. He owned a barber shop in Great Neck, NY, and later, another in Garden City Park, NY. In his spare time, he spent several years volunteering as a clown for children and families suffering from illness or trauma.
He is survived by his son, John Gallo; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Matthew Miritello; and five grandchildren: Nicholas, Thomas, Christiana, Samuel, and Tyler.
Achille loved nothing more than having his home filled with his loved ones—from family in New Hyde Park, NY, to relatives in Italy. He loved to golf. He loved making those around him smile. He enjoyed walking through his neighborhood, greeting everyone he passed. Most of all, he loved to make people laugh. His wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of laughing in his presence.
Please join us in celebrating Achille’s life on Monday, April 21st, and Tuesday, April 22nd.

My father worked in the barber shop in Great Neck with Primo, and I remember him always having a smile on his face and cracking jokes. I used to work as a shampoo girl at the hair salon next-door, De Al, and I would get a ride in with my father and wait inside the barber shop for my salon to open. Primo was always so lovely and always engaged me in conversation. I know that my father was very happy working with Primo and his brother, Camillo, and I know that both my parents would want me to acknowledge Primo's passing. Sending deepest condolences on behalf of Gennaro and Rosa Renna. Riposa in pace.
My name is Betty Miller from Maplewood, Darien. I work at the front desk. I would like to send my deepest condolences to the entire family. My memory of Prom is that every time Primo would pass by the front desk at Maplewood he would say hi and give me a great big smile. That's the memory that I will treasure about Primo. Again, I send my love and sympathy to the entire family.😘
I remember your Dad always had a smile. Death is never easy, but he will live on in the countless memories and stories. He is always a part of your heart and now he is your guardian angel. May you forever hold him close to your heart 🌈
Mr. Gallo had a unique ability to make everyone smile. I met him 47 years ago when I became friends with Diane. I spent countless days there as a kid and became very aware of his playful spirit- you never knew if he was serious or joking around! As the years went on, he welcomed my 3 children every summer to his house and hosted a pizza party. Our favorite memories from that time was of him crafting balloon animals and telling us jokes. He loved having us there but we ALL looked forward to it every year! His legacy of kindness, humor, and love will live in our hearts to all that were lucky enough to know him! My…
Caro Zio Achille,
Ci manchi profondamente.
