A Mothers Thank You
I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to each and every person that had an impact on our lives.
They say it takes a village to raise a child and as a single parent you sometimes look to that village but all villages aren’t sized the same, when there’s a crisis so many come running and as time goes on you see and hear less from less people, we live in a world where friends and family become strangers and strangers become our friends and family, so I thank those that have stuck by us through it all, the good and bad.
For my immediate family I would like to thank my brother, “ Uncle” Zoe loved her Uncle and saw him as a father figure, he treated her like his own child, and did so much for her, I would like to thank my mom, “Grandma” there’s not enough words to express gratitude for grandma, while at work Zoe would never miss an appt, a day at school or an event, grandma made a promise to Zoe never to leave until she was better and kept that promise to Zoe’s last heartbeat.
Lastly I would like to thank my daughter it’s been a journey for us, I advocated for her over the 4 years of her having this disease, often times making difficult decisions and this final decision was not one I was prepared to make, after she was declared brain dead by doctors I would have the painful task of deciding when to remove her from the ventilator. Zoe who always looked out for mommy took that burden from me, the plan was to remove her on Monday but Zoe’s little heart stopped on Sunday, my Zoe showed me 3 things that Sunday morning, 1: she was and still is the boss, 2: she waited for who was always with her during her sickness, mommy , grandma and uncle to be at her bedside 3: she knew it would be difficult a decision for me to remove her and she took that burden off my shoulders and off my heart.
I thank my beautiful daughter, Zoefia Alexandria who was always so bright, selfless and so loving. You were my blessing, my best friend and my everything. Your story doesn’t end here, you will always be in my heart and your memory will forever live on.
Love Mommy
