OBITUARY
Sidoti, Mary age 86, of Brightwaters, NY passed peacefully surrounded by her family on June 21, 2019. Devoted wife of the late Eugene. Beloved mother of Paul (Ann), Peter (Ann), Jane (John), and James (Anne). Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Shannon), Matthew (Kristina), Andrew (Rachael), Gregory (Jacquelyn), Roseann (Timothy), Lauren, Timmy, Philip, Christine (Zack), Joseph, and Carolyn, and great grandmother of Edward Eugene. Aunt of many loving nieces and nephews. As proud as she was of her children, she was even more proud of her grandchildren. Education was always paramount to Mary and Gene. In May their youngest grandchild graduated from college and thus Mary was able to have seen all of them receive degrees and pursue careers. She was also thrilled to meet her first great grandchild this year. Mary was herself a lifelong learner earning dual Master Degrees. She spent her entire professional life in the nursing field. She started bedside at Southside Hospital, became a public health nurse for Suffolk County, taught nursing at SUNY Farmingdale, and created a program for the Family Service League to help parents and children at risk. She was among the first in New York State to be licensed as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 1989 at the tender age of fifty-seven. Mary was most proud to have two of her Granddaughters follow her into the Pediatric Nursing Field. Mary continued her educational pursuits into her eighties trying to master her computer skills.
