12/5/1916 - 5/21/2019 OBITUARY
William H. Thomas, 102 of New Hyde Park, NY passed peacefully on the morning of May 21, 2019. A loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, he has left an indelible footprint on the lives of so many. He will long be remembered for his wit, his smile, his laughter, his enthusiasm, his strength and boundless energy, his always positive outlook, and his stories. Oh, so many stories. He served in World War II and spent much of his life working for Grumman in security where he ultimately retired. He had one daughter, Jean who passed away in November of 2009. He leaves behind three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew, not to mention the infinite number of friends and family. Married thrice, William has had the dubious honor of bringing three separate families in his lifetime together as one. He was a long-time resident of New Hyde Park and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Condolences to the family of Bill Thomas--he led such a long active life and made a difference in the life of those of us who knew him through the NHP Presbyterian Church. Made us smile and reminded us what it meant to be a Christian. A good friend of all us Dahls.

Met grandpa many years ago. He was always so kind and chipper. Lots of stories told at familyngatherings. A very kind gentle soul. May he rest in peace?
I'll always remember Bill as the emcee for our church variety show. Told his stories and jokes and kept the audience entertained between acts. Also had him on stage with my Dad and one other Bill when I sang "Bill". A very warm_hearted man who was a part of my formative years.
Bill Thomas was one of the leaders of the First Presbyterian Church In NHP when I was growing up in the 1970s and 80s. He mentored many a confirmation candidate including me.
There is a quote attributed to St Francis of Assisi - "Preach the gospel at all times, use words only when necessary." Mr. Thomas lived this quote for so many decades.
