Geraldine A. Czenszak AKA Fran Anthony


7/18/1931 - 5/20/2019 OBITUARY Geraldine Agnes Czenszak (July 18, 1931 - May 20, 2019) Geraldine (Gerri) Agnes Czenszak aka “Fran Anthony" passed away peacefully on May 20th. She was 87 years old. She was an actor better known to most as “Fran Anthony”. Earlier in her career, she was known as Gerri Cenza, but changed it after her father Frank passed away as a tribute to him and to her Grandfather, Anthony, thus Fran Anthony. She was a member of the Actors Equity Association (AEA) as well as the Screen Actors Guild- American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). She was the first one in her family to graduate from college earning a BA from Queens College. She had a passion for the Arts at an early age and shortly after her college graduation moved to the Big Apple. She resided in New York City for over 60 years and enjoyed all the city had to offer. Her acting career credits included Broadway, off Broadway, Regional and Dinner Theatre, as well as TV commercials, Soap Operas and Major Film Productions. Her career took her to various locations within the US as well as Europe and Africa several times by plane and cruise ships. She thoroughly enjoyed her travels which were a source of many colorful stories. A highlight of her career was her appearance in the 4th season of the Sopranos in the role of Minerva “Minn" Matrone. Minn was victim #29 at the hands of “Paulie Walnuts” who suffocated her with a pillow. Gerri was loved dearly by her family and many friends. She is predeceased by her father Frank and Mary and brother Richard. She was never married, however, was admired and loved by her nephews Richard, Robert, and Raymond Czenszak. Gerri was also blessed to have close relationships with her aunts and cousins including, Peggy Sullivan, Patricia DeMayo, Ronald, Russell, and Bert Cummings, Patrick Docherty, and Linda Melandinidis. Gerri’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She was an active parishioner and worked at St John The Martyr. She had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land which was an incredible spiritual experience for her. While there, she lived with her life-long friend Lois Freifeld in Tel Aviv. She said this trip gave her the strength to survive Breast Cancer. Gerri had a vibrant personality, a passion for life, and contributed to the Arts. She loved her family and always made an effort to be present in their lives. Love and admiration for her will live on in the hearts of family and friends with an abundant amount of memories. Geraldine A. Czenszak will be laid to rest with her parents, Frank and Mary, in St. Johns Cemetery, Queens NY.
