I have know Joan most of my life we met through my cousin Marie who was also a teacher. We always kept in touch over the years. Joan was always happy and optimistic in spite of all her health problems and was always concerned about me. She was a loving and caring person and loved by all who met her. Her sudden tragic death was a shock and I will miss her and her positive attitude. May she rest in peace in Gods loving hands.

Joan took me under her wing when I was a new teacher at 186. Will never forget her helpfulness, enthusiasm for teaching and her professionalism. Joan and I remained friends long after her retirement. Joan attended family functions, such as our daughter's college graduation party.
I loved her leprechaun collection! Each year I'd send her a St. Patrick's Day card with a leprechaun on the cover and she would send me a St. Joseph's Day card. Rest In Peace, Joan! Your a legend at 186
