Donald T. Kiley


December 5, 1928 - September 10, 2018 OBITUARY Kiley, Donald T. Sr., on September 10, 2018, of Garden City, NY (formerly of Commack and Bayside, NY), at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Dunn) for 61 years. Loving father of Don, Jr. (Maria), Kevin (Nancy), Jack (Jeannie), Cathy McGuire (Jim) and Jim (Nancy). Cherished Grandfather of sixteen: Meghan, Jack, Jr., Kevin, Jr., Danny, Maureen, Mike, Ally, Maggie, Darcy, Victoria, Madeline, Drew, Julia, Emily, Matthew and Claire. Predeceased by his parents, Edward A. Kiley and Elizabeth Cantwell Kiley and his brothers, Edward and John. Also, survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Woodlawn, the Bronx, in 1928, Don attended Georgetown Prep in Maryland for the 7th, 8th and 9th grades, and then returned to the Bronx to attend Fordham Prep and Fordham College. After graduation in 1950, Don fought in the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, he attended Fordham Law School from which he graduated in 1955 as Valedictorian and Editor of the Law Review. He had a distinguished legal career practicing corporate law with the New York law firm of Cahill, Gordon, Reindell & Ohl. He then practiced plaintiffs’ personal injury and criminal defense law with his late brother, Ed Kiley. He was awarded a Post-Graduate Kent Fellowship and studied at Columbia University Law School, after which he joined the faculty at Duquense Law School, where he taught Jurisprudence and Evidence and founded the Duquesne Law Review. He opened his own private law practice in Bayside, New York in 1974 and then founded the law firm of Kiley, Kiley & Kiley, PLLC with his sons, Don, Jr., Kevin and Jim, where he practiced until his retirement in 2001. Reposing Thursday and Friday 2-4 & 7-9:30 at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church located at 35 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, New York. Interment to follow at Mt. St. Mary’s Cem.
