March 1, 1932 - June 7, 2018 OBITUARY Robert F. Christman, age 86, on June 7, 2018 of New Hyde Park, NY for 52 years. He was a very active community member. He was honored May 22 as this years senior citizen certificate of recognition for service to the community. He received citations and recognition from North Hempstead Supervisor Judy Bosworth; recognition from Nassau County Comptroller Hon. Jack Schnirman; Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell; Thomas P Dinapoli, State Comptroller; New York State Assemblyman Anthony D Urso; Nassau County Executive Laura Curran; Town of North Hempstead Council; New York State Senator Elaine Phillips and Nassau County Legislature Presiding Officer.
Bob was a very active member of New Hyde Park VFW. He was past commander and current treasurer. He was grand marshal of the Veterans Day activities in new Hyde Park last year. He wrote his memoir of his time as a teenager in the Korean War. He proudly served our country. He was a polar bear in the 31st Infantry Regiment.
Bob also was a boy scout leader when his sons were young, while getting a Masters degree at Pace University. He was a gifted CPA and volunteered for many years doing tax returns for seniors at the public library in towns all over Nassau County. He also taught the next generation to take up the cause, his legacy lives on.
He will be dearly missed by his big sister Dorothy, three sons Bobby, Steven, and Gary, daughter-in-law Tricia, and two grandchildren Stephanie and Danny. It is a great loss to our community.
Visitation Sunday 2-4:30pm & 7-9:30pm at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home, 506 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, West Hempstead, NY. Interment to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery.
