January 15, 1929 - December 15, 2017 OBITUARY Daniel Edward Torpey, age 88, of New Hyde Park, NY passed away in his sleep December 15, 2017. Born January 15, 1929 in Manhattan, Dan graduated from Manhattan College, served in the Army during the Korean conflict, and worked for NY State as an auditor. Dan was an active member of Our Lady of the Snows parish where he was involved in many organizations and activities. Dan opened his home to many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren as they started their careers in New York. Dan is preceded in death by brothers, William, Joseph, John, and Thomas; and sisters Anna, Loretta, and Mary (Fash). Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret (Owens) and their six children, William (Maryann), John (Michele), Marianne (Joseph), Peter (Mary Anne), Daniel (Patti) and Joseph (Michelle); 21 grandchildren; and their great-grand daughter Charlotte.
