Dorothy and family,
My heartfelt sympathy to you and your entire family. I met your sister Jane only a few times and did not really know her. Yet I feel as if I do, from the stories you would share about her, and now from the tributes....from you and your family below. I wish I knew her. Genuine, telling it like it is, so generous and fun. She was truly a special person, and she will live on with all of you. God Bless her soul and spirit. Your are in my thoughts and prayers. Your old friend, Lauren H.
I have only known jane for less then a year and felt like I have known her forever. In the last 7-8 months I have learned allot. Jane touched my heart in so many ways. I will always remember Jane's crazy cat meow and all the laughs and tears we shared together. Jane I will miss you dearly but will never forget all the fun we had together. I know you are not in pain anymore and that is giving me comfort .
Our little love Aunt Jane, what an inspirational woman. I can't begin to describe the sensitivity and strength she imbued in me; having an Aunt like her is responsible for so much of the core of who I am. Her very being demanded from others a deep sense of self awareness and introspection due to her challenges, as if to say, "Look at me. I am strong, see yourself, see who you are and who you can be. Don't think for a second you can pull the wool over my eyes, and don't try to do that to yourself either." She was fun loving, super colorful and always could crack a smirk when we shared our hilarious little jokes and…
Yes it is hard to put into words how much we will miss our dear Jane. She could have you laughing in a moment. She was always the observer. Never a mean bone in her body but honest and true. She could size people up very accurately. She loved her nieces and nephews and all of her great nieces and nephews. She felt fullfilled when she had her shopping lists finished for all those kids! Jane had her struggles but did not complain and took life one day or I should say "one minute at a time"! I am grateful for her love during our lives. I am bitterly sorry she is gone but the only thing consoling me is…
Jane was a special person. Born with cerebral palsy, she faced continuing challenges in her life both physical and emotional and throughout every one showed her mental and physical gifts and strengths. She coped by enjoying whatever she could without too much introspection. Jane loved to treat herself to Avon jewelry, manicures and haircuts, lunches out with sisters and by herself at every chance she could. After a series of secretarial jobs, Jane had worked in the Port Washington Library for almost 40 years and was a respected staff member, taking herself to work by public transportation. Jane hand-wrote an 800-page book about her life as imagined without having challenges.
Her life as described in "My Dream," the title of…
