I just learned about the passing of this good-hearted and kind man, Richard Stein, Jr. who I had the honor of serving with for four years, in the New Hyde Park Auxiliary Police. Rick was a dedicated individual to his family, and Community, and was a true leader, as our Chief of the New Hyde Park Auxiliary Police Unit 212. Rick set the tone, and the bar of excellence that each Unit member sought to achieve. Rick was generous with his time, and himself, and hosted numerous parties, and backyard barbecues for the Auxiliary Police Officers of his Unit, as well as participating in our Halloween, and Christmas parties. I look back with fond memories of my time in Service…

There are few kinder and more caring people than veteran Fire Chief/Fire Commissioner Rick Stein. His dedication to the communities that he served was 2nd to none. The world was a better with Ricky in it - but heavens gain leaves us wonderful memories. Rest In peace Brother. Love, Teri and Billy G
