We would like to express our deepest condolences. Elaine was a beautiful soul and a dear friend to my mom, her childhood art teacher, Beverly Schmitt. Elaine's gentle and caring nature and appreciation of nature and beauty will live on in all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

I was deeply saddened to learn about Elaine's passing. She was a dear friend and a wonderful teacher who was well-liked by her students. Through her teaching and her books (especially about the Chesapeake Bay) she expressed her love not only for art but nature and its beauty. Through her artistic talent she passed this appreciation on to others on both the elementary and college levels.
Elaine will be truly missed and her memory and friendship will always be treasured.
