I am very sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Capece. He was one of my favorite teachers in high school. When Mr. Capece transferred to NHP Memorial High School he was my business teacher. I don't know why but he quickly took a liking to me and treated me well. He would have me go to the store on lunch break and buy him cigarettes. He would also throw me some extra money to get a soda and snacks. He always had a smile on his face and quick jokes to keep the class moving and keep the kids involved. I was away when I received the news of Mr. Capece's passing and saddened that I was not able to pay my respects in person.
I knew Tom on many levels. I had the pleasure of working with him as a teacher in the Business Dept. at NHP Memorial. My son was also a student of Mr. Capece and as a community member, we were very fortunate to have teachers like Tom in our school. My condolences to his family.
My prayers go out to the family & friends of Mr Capece experiencing the loss of his laughter in their lives. His love is forever!
He could jest with a class full of hyper teenagers & get us all to quiet down. He was my home room teacher in Omaha & the first person I knew with a "New Yorker" kind of accent. We knew he respected us and he believed in us to excel. RIP Tom, in God's eternal Light. Carla Nielson Paul VI , 1976.
