OBITUARY
Joseph “Joey” Zito, 68, of Port St. Lucie, passed away on Monday November 9, 2020. Born on June 1, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, Joey was a lifelong resident of New York until he later moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was an avid Mets fan and never missed watching a single game. He knew all there was to know about baseball, especially his beloved Mets. Joey was the comedian of the family. Whether he was making jokes, singing silly songs or coming up with slick comebacks on the fly, he had the ability to make any person laugh or crack a smile. His energy was infectious, he was one of those people that was so effortlessly funny no one knew how he did it and even he didn’t know how funny he was. Joey loved and was loved by his entire family. He would never forget your birthday, a holiday or a special occasion. One of the things his family loved about him was that his humor drifted into the birthday cards he would send. He always found the funniest, most clever ones and no one knew where he got them because they were so unique. He loved to come over to his parents’ home and watch his Mets games in the basement in the big, plush lounge chair he liked so much. Joey was a Con Edison worker for many years and truly adored his job. He had a sibling bond so strong it could never be broken, and loved his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephew like they were his own. Joey was such a family man and that is something no one will ever forget. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Raffaela Zito; brother in law Michael, he is survived by his siblings, Lucille, Diane and Ann Marie; his brother in law Joseph; nieces Jennifer and Elena; nephew Christopher; great nieces Ashley and Marissa; great nephew Kaden; along with many cousins, great friends and extended family. Joey will be missed immensely. VISITATION

His Uncle Phil remembers seeing him for the first time on leave from the Navy, says he was a pistol even as a baby. I only remember him as cool! And he helped make me a long suffering Mets fan. May he find peace re-united with his mother and father! Joe and Phil Schelzo
I will miss my wonderful nephew and will never forget him.
Uncle Richard
I met Joey a few years ago when we went to Florida for our annual football game. It was my first time meeting him, but he was immediately very friendly and making jokes. I remember trying to quiz him on Mets trivia and he knew every answer immediately. We had a great time that trip and having Joey there made it even better.
We are so sorry for your loss. He and his family will be in our prayers.
Love,
Karl and Sharon
